Let the ages of the father and his son be F and S respectively.
Now, F = 3S or, S = F/3
After 15 years, F + 15 = 2(S + 15)
or, F + 15 = 2S + 30
or, F - 2S = 30 - 15
or, F - 2(F/3) = 15
or, (3F - 2F)/3 = 15
or, F = 15 x 3 = 45
